Can trademark registration be automated? We think so!

Intellectual property protection is becoming increasingly important.

According to a research by CompuMark, more than 85% of companies have experienced an IP infringement in the last year, 75% of large companies were sued for trademark breaches and 40% were forced to change the name or logo of their products. The same research shows that one of the biggest obstacles in trying to obtain trademark protection is the drawn-out registrability research process, for which companies lack both the appropriate tools and adequate time.

At trama™, we believe that things should be as simple as possible. This is far from reality in case of trademarks registration today. That's why we've brought together an experienced team of legal and technology experts which is trying to make registering a trademark easier than buying a plane ticket.

Our goal is to completely change the approach to branding since we believe that every company, regardless of size, should have access to tools that allow it to create a quality and original brand that can be protected. We want to make the whole process so simple that a trademark check when deciding the name of a company or designing the logo of a product will become as common as checking the availability of a web domain.

To help with this, we are building a product which, with the aid of artificial intelligence and automation, can evaluate the registrability of the mark and deal with the entire application process. Although we are not quite there yet, trama is already simplifying the whole process to a large extent. You just fill out a simple form and the system takes care of the rest. The only exception is the registrability check, which is done by our human specialists. Hundreds of marks have already passed through their hands and their expertise is validated by the 100% success rate we’ve had so far when it comes to trademark registrations.

In the second step, a robust platform will follow. It will primarily help branding agencies and law firms, allowing them to do complex research and manage their trademark portfolios more easily.

Trama is just the beginning. Our long-term goal is to productize legal services that are administratively demanding as well as repetitive in their essence, and thus easily automated. Thanks to strong partners, we are not alone. Trama was created by cooperation between Vacuumlabs, a software house with more than 250 IT specialists and branches in the USA, UK and Hong Kong, and Sparring, which focuses on legal advice for fast-growing technology companies. Thanks to this mix, we have access to unique technological and legal talent.

There is a lot of work ahead of us, so we will be looking for more reinforcements. If you would like to embark on this journey with us, whether as a team member or as a partner, get in touch with us!
