Specimen

In trademark law, a specimen refers to a physical or digital sample or representation of how a trademark is used in commerce in connection with the goods or services listed in the trademark application or registration. A specimen is required to accompany a trademark application or registration to show the actual use of the trademark.

Examples of specimens can include:

  1. A label or tag affixed to the product bearing the trademark
  2. A photograph or digital image showing the trademark on the product or in connection with the service
  3. A screenshot of a webpage displaying the trademark in connection with the goods or services
  4. A brochure, advertisement, or other marketing material displaying the trademark in connection with the goods or services
